Chapter Two: Resting Place of the Ultima Weapon
[/i][/u][/center]Story Two
Rocket Town
Once again, this small town has been restored to glory, thanks to the amazing technology developed through the years. It has become a gateway to Space, not just an opportunity. Rocket Town has become a Space Center, in which space shuttles are launched every day. Scientists have determined that one day the sun will die, and the planet will no longer be able to support life, so people have begun inhabiting other planets.
“Is the engine ready? How are the oxygen tanks?” A calm, yet anxious voice rang through a space shuttle. “It’s fine, sir. Everything is ready for launch.” The man smirked upon hearing this. “Alright then, let’s get going!” The man hit the ignition. The engines roared, and the shuttle took off. Usually this isn’t much, but this shuttle was important. It was the first one to take over 100 people to another planet. It broke through the atmosphere, and made its way into space. The launch was successful.
A woman made her way to the front of the passenger area, looking a little queasy. She grabbed the arm of a Shuttle Attendant, and spoke with a weak voice. “Ma’am, I feel sick. Do you have anything to help?” The Attendant smiled, and took out a pill. “Take this, it will be fine.” The woman took the pill and swallowed it, and sighed. It began to work. “Thank you.” She made her way back to her seat, but before she could sit, the shuttle broke through the next planet’s atmosphere. She fell on her head and moaned. The shuttle landed and everyone was getting off, with no regard to the poor woman on the floor.
The captain came out of the thingypit, and smiled at the Attendants. “Good job, it was a great trip.” He then noticed the poor woman on the floor. He walked up to her, and helped her up. “Got in a bit of a mess, eh?” The woman smiled weakly at him. “Have we landed, captain?” The captain smirked. “Call me Nate. Yes, we’ve landed.” The woman let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good. I can’t take another minute on this ship. I’m Hitori.” The captain smiled as he escorted Hitori off the ship. “Nice to meet you. You’ll like it here, I’m sure of it. It was made to be a lot like home.” As they stepped off, Hitori got her first glance at the new planet. They made it look amazing. Blue skies, green grass, and a perfect environment. They must have done a lot of work to get it like this.
“Here, let me lead you to the staff room. It’s okay, you’re allowed in. You’re with me.” Nate led Hitori to a building, which was made like a cozy home. It had a television, couch, games, and soft beds. A perfect little place. Hitori wandered around, and smiled. She hadn’t been to a place like this in ages. “It’s an amazing place to live.” Nate smiled. “Yes, it is. Sometimes I wish I don’t have to go back and forth, and just stay here. Go and explore for a while. It’s a neat planet.” Hitori nodded and went outside. She wandered the village, looking at all the homes, stores, restaurants, and workplaces. It was bliss.
Hitori noticed a small, out of place building, hidden so nobody would notice it. She wandered toward it, making sure nobody was looking. It appeared to be a shrine. She walked in and looked around. Dim green light filled the room, and a white spotlight fell onto a sword in the middle of the room. It was quite large, and looked heavy. There was inscription on the base.
The Ultima Weapon: The Sword of the Great Hero of the Northern Crater. At his request, it has been locked away here to ensure its safety. It is said that the more healthy the user, the stronger the sword becomes.
Hitori walked around the pedestal, examining the sword. The blade was curved, and was blue in the middle. She decided to walk onto the pedestal, and grip the sword handle. It glowed as she touched it. She pulled it up from the pedestal, and held it high. It wasn’t as heavy as she thought. Before she could swing it around, Hitori heard the door open. She quickly turned to see Nate walk in.
“I thought I’d find you here. You seemed like the curious type. Put the sword down, it isn’t a toy.” Hitori placed the sword back into the pedestal. Nate walked up and looked at the sword. “The Great Hero of the Northern Crater. I’ve always wondered who he was, and why he was called a hero. I hear records of the past are held at Kalm, but it’s probably just a false rumor.” Nate walked next to Hitori, and gripped the handle. He pulled it out, and smirked. “This sword is an amazing piece of work. The stories are true: it becomes stronger if you are of good health.” Nate swung the sword around with grace. He obviously handled them before. “I’ve been intrigued by swords for a while. Never got to use a real one, but just plastic ones.” Nate gave it a couple more swings before the door opened once again.
A couple of men filed in, followed by an easygoing man in an amazing set of armor. He looked at Nate and Hitori, and walked over. “Hello, pilot. What are you doing with the Ultima Sword?” Nate backed up a step, and swallowed hard. “I was just holding it, York. Hope you don’t mind.” York brushed back his hair with his hand, and gave Nate a sinister look. “Of course I mind. Men, rip the two apart.” York walked out as the three men aimed their firearms at the two. Nate held the sword high and went in front of Hitori. “Leave this to me.” Hitori looked at Nate and nodded before hiding behind the pedestal.
The men fired their weapons at Nate, who jumped to the side. He ran toward the men and jumped into the air. He was about three feet higher than usual before falling back down and striking the three men with one sweep. They fell to the ground with gaping wounds. They were dead.
Nate looked back at a frightened Hitori, and helped her back to her senses. “Sorry about that. Let’s get out of here.” Nate and Hitori ran out of the building, only to see York again, with his partner. “I thought you’d defeat them. After all, the Ultima Sword is quite amazing.” His partner stepped up and took out a double-barrel shotgun. York motioned to his partner. “Meet Yuri. He’s not much of a speaker, but actions speak louder than words.” York walked away and left the two to Yuri. At this moment, Nate noticed they wore the Cosmic Industries uniforms. “What does Cosmic Industries want with the Ultima Sword?” Yuri smirks. “None of your business.” He fires the shotgun and hits Nate in the leg. He falls to his knee and looks at Yuri, who was next to him and pointing the shotgun at his head. “Too easy.” Hitori did a hand motion, and extended her hands at Yuri, and hit him with a bolt of lightning, which easily took Yuri down. She smiled. “Too easy, yep.” Hitori helped Nate up, and braced him. “We have to get out of here.”
