Chapter 3: Must You Touch It AGAIN?!
[/i][/u][/center]Story 3
Temple of the Ancients, Rebuilt
After the incident with Meteor and the Northern Crater, the Temple of the Ancients was remade exactly as it was. It stood on a lone island in the southern hemisphere, awaiting visitors to be confused by its endless puzzles and traps. However, within the temple lies the very same artifact that has been sought by many. The very same Black Materia that was taken last time has been put back, reforming the very Temple itself.
“This must be it. I need to get it before… No, don’t think about it.” A woman ran into the Temple, and stopped as she saw the maze. “I’ve heard it was confusing, but this is insane! Gah, concentrate, Amber…” The young woman took out a map and looked up at the maze. With a smile, she ran through the maze with little trouble and found herself at the Boulder Trap. She got past it with ease, having trained for obstacles such as this. “Good so far, Amber… just a little further.” Amber looks behind her for a moment. “Hurry up, Cait!” A familiar stuffed animal bounced along behind Amber, with the same cat on its head. It looked old and beaten. “Should’ve made a new version, Gramps. I kept telling you that the technology that Ancestor Tseng had wasn’t that good.” The poor stuffed animal tripped, and got back up. It ran past the Boulders and caught up with Amber. “Well, about time. We have to get this thing before they do.” They ran into puzzle after puzzle, easily solving each with haste and accuracy. They finally got to the room.
Amber stood in front of it. One of three artifacts floated above a small pedestal. It was shaped exactly like the Temple itself. Amber touched it, and the Temple shook. It was indeed the Black Materia. Cait Sith walked over to Amber. “Is this it?” Amber nodded. “Yep. Is the comm. Link ready?” Cait Sith tapped the microphone, and Amber heard feedback. “It’s operational. I’ll inform you when you can pull it.” Cait nodded as Amber ran out of the room and to the exit. When she got to the door, it came alive. Amber sighed as she took out a pole. “Princess Guard, don’t fail me now.” Amber spun the Princess Guard around, and dodged a swing from Demon Gate. She ran up its arm and struck its head with amazing force, followed by a dropkick and a back flip. As she landed, she looked at the dazed Demon Gate. She took out a green stone and held it up. “Comet!” A comet fell from the sky and hit Demon Gate square in the head, defeating it. Amber ran out of the Temple, and activated the microphone. “Now, Cait!”
From within the Temple of the Ancients, Cait Sith once again was put to good use as he pulled the Black Materia from the pedestal, destroying the Temple and leaving the Black Materia in a giant hole. Amber jumped down and picked it up, and spoke into the microphone. “Thanks, Gramps! I’ll keep it safe!” As Amber pulled herself up, a man in a white coat with a shotgun greeted her with a bullet to the chest. She fell into the hole, and dropped the Black Materia. The man picked it up. “Mission Accomplished. Call in the helicopter.”
Several hours later, Amber woke from her slumber and held her head. She looked up out of the hole, and down to her chest. Thank god for Bullet-Proof Technology. She climbed out of the hole and looked around. The Black Materia was gone. “Amber? Amber?! Are you there?!” Amber winced at the shouting. “I’m here, Gramps.” A sigh could be heard. “Thank god. I’ve been trying to get in touch with you for hours. Come back to Nibelheim. We’ll decide what to do from there.” Amber looked at the sky, and took a deep breath. “Alright, Gramps. Amber, out.”
