Here is a teaser from the work I will begin writing soon. It will be an amazing work, and I hope you all will enjoy it. It will be titled "Behind the Curtain."
I sat there fixated upon the man as he approached me. He wore a dark red coat with rips at the bottom, with black boots and long black gloves. His face had an expression of utmost seriousness, hidden behind reflective sunglasses. His hair was a jet black, draping down his head and resting on his shoulders. With his right hand, he carried a large case adorned with a skull sticker. The man abruptly dropped the case to the ground and sat beside me, placing his arms on the counter and arching his back. With a slow, smooth motion, he turned his head and looked directly into my eyes, and for less than a second, a wave of unprecedented fear shot throughout my entire being. At this point, he began speaking with a slight smirk on his lips.
"You must be Leo. I've heard a lot about you."
This came as a surprise to me, as I had never seen this man in my entire life. He continued to stare at me, his grin growing as he continued to talk.
"There is much we need to talk about, but this is not the time nor the place to do so. You will meet me under the bridge at Elm and Pine at eight o'clock. Do not be late."
I could not mutter a single word as he picked up his case and walked out of the cafe. There was only one thing I knew for sure, however. I knew that I had no choice but to go see him.
It was raining that night as I stood underneath the old bridge. It had lasted time longer than most people who lived in the city, being constructed ninety years before I was born, and yet it still held as strong as ever. Thunder crashed every few moments, interrupting the silence of the night as I awaited the man, cold and nervous. The man eventually arrived in a small two-seater car and parked underneath the bridge. He stepped out of the car and walked toward me, sitting down on my left. This time, he came without his glasses, and I could see with fair clarity deep red eyes that would even make a hitman cower in fear.
"My name is of no importance, so for now, you may call me Enigma. I know of you because I have followed you for quite some time. You may not realize it, but we are very alike."
"What do you want with me?"
"There comes a time in everyone's lives in which they begin to question the world around them. A time in which they realize that everything they've learned is useless. A time where they discover everything is a lie. The world around us is merely a hoax. This world is not real. What you see before you is all underneath a curtain, so to say, and on the other side lies a world you could never hope to imagine. The question I ask you is... do you wish to see the true world?"
Enigma spoke with a passionate, yet aggressive tone, but for some reason I could relate to him. He was right; something did seem wrong. However, I did not expect to learn that the entire world was the problem. At the time, I thought the man was insane, yet something within me begged for answers. I could only give him one answer.
"...yes."
No, this isn't some Matrix-like thing, not even close. Just wait patiently, and you'll find out what's behind the curtain soon enough.
